HARTSVILLE, SC - The Hawks used an eight-run fifth inning to help propel them to a 10-1 victory over Coker College. Today's victory wrapped up the three-game series, with the Hawks coming away with two road wins.
The Hawks, now 2-1, had 11 hits in the game and were paced by designated hitter Brian Hill who was 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. David Hughes, PJ Sadler, and Zack Beasley all tallied two hits in the win.
On the mound, freshman Chris Nelson pitched the win. He pitched six innings, scattering five hits and allowing one run. BJ Byerly and Spencer Fagan eached pitched in relief of Nelson, giving up no runs and one hit apiece.
The Hawks will host Fairmont State next weekend in a three-game series over Saturday and Sunday.
