MURFREESBORO - The women's tennis team picked up their first win of 2008 with a 6-3 match win over North Carolina Wesleyan this afternoon. Chowan won two doubles matches and four singles matches to take home the victory.

Playing in the #2 doubles spot, Kashae Beverly and Amanda Spaulding won over their Bishop opponent 8-1. Shirley Baines and Brittany Johnson won their #3 doubles match with a final score of 8-2.

Beverly went on to win her #3 singles match in straight sets with a final score of 6-2, 6-1. Melinda Williams picked up a straight set win over Megan Herd 6-2, 6-0 in the #4 singles match while Spaulding beat Jessica Pollard 6-0, 6-0. Playing the #6 singles match, Brittany Allen beat her opponent 6-2, 6-1 to round out the winning matches of the day.

Today's win moves the Hawks to 1-2 overall.
