GAFFNEY, SC - The softball team moved to 3-3 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Limestone College this afternoon. Chowan won the first game 2-0 but fell in the nightcap 7-0.
Shellie Wimpey (2-1) pitched a five-hit, shut out to help propel her team to victory. Chowan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added their second run in the 6th inning. The Hawks tallied six hits with Melissa Woodrum going 2-3 at the plate. Tricia Gorman was 1-3 with an RBI in the game.
Limestone out hit the Hawks 11-2 in the night cap with Sara Teh getting the loss on the mound. Krystle Thomas and Gorman picked up the team's only hits.
Chowan will travel over to Lenoir-Rhyne College for a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon.
