MURFREESBORO - The softball team moved to 2-2 on the year after a doubleheader sweep of Saint Pauls College this afternoon with scores of 17-0 and 22-0. Today's wins not only mark the team's first of the season but also first year head coach Mandi Balduf's first wins as a collegiate head coach.

Shellie Wimpey (1-1) pitched a no-hitter to help propel her team to victory in the first game of the doubleheader. Wimpey struck out 11 batters and walked three in the win while her team picked up 10 hits. Melissa Woodrum was 3-4 with three RBI while Jenna Lassiter was 3-3 at the plate with two RBI.

Sara Teh pitched a one-hitter in the nightcap for her first win on the mound this season. The junior gave up a single in the first inning and then went to work to strike out eight batters in the next four innings of work. The Hawks tallied 14 team hits with Kaytee McLaughlin and Mindy Byrd collecting three hits each. Megan Bass and Krystle Thomas picked up two hits int he win.

Chowan will hit the road this weekend with stops at Limestone College on Saturday and Lenoir-Rhyne College on Sunday. They will return home to host Virginia State University on February 26th at 2:00pm.
