Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The baseball team ran their record to 9-3 on the season after sweeping Southern Virginia this afternoon with scores of 9-5 and 11-8. With today's wins, the Hawks run their win streak to four in a row.
Brian Hill moved to 3-0 on the year aftern pitching the win in the first game. Hill worked seven innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out five batters. The team had 10 hits in the game and used a six-run 3rd inning to help get ahead of the Knights. Justin Hollingsworth had two hits and four RBI while freshman Zack Beasley was 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Chris Nelson kept his record perfect on the mound at 3-0 after pitching five innings in the nightcap. The freshman gave up three earned runs and struck out three batters. Steve Humprey pitched in relief of Nelson, allowing one hit and striking out three batters. Anthony O'Brien pitched the final inning of the game to get the save, his first of the season. Five Hawks' had multiple hit games with Billy Walling going 3-4 to pace the team.
The Hawks will host Post University in a three-game series this weekend. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday and follow that up with a single, nine inning game on Sunday.
