MURFREESBORO - The women's tennis team opened the 2008 season with a 9-0 loss to Methodist University this morning. Chowan posted just three game wins in the match.

Mary Tolson picked up two of those game wins at the #1 singles spot as she fell to Tiffany Tucker 6-1,   6-1. Kashae Beverly played #2 singles falling 6-0, 6-0 to Jenny Smith. Melinda Williams was beat by Methodist's Shannon Vivian 6-0, 6-0 at the #3 singles spot while Amanda Spaulding lost to Sara Sieling 6-0, 6-0 in the #4 singles match. Brittany Allen lost to Heather Ford 6-0 in the #5 singles match and Shirley Baines lost the #6 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to Cameron Tinkham.

On the doubles side, Tolson and Beverly paired up for the #1 match against Kaitlyn Florety and Leighton Bull where they fell 8-1. Williams and Spaulding played in the #2 doubles match, falling 8-0 to Lauren Hulse and Courtney Faile. Allen and Baines played in the #3 doubles match where they fell to Sieling and Lindsey Davis with a final score of 8-0.

The Hawks fall to 0-1 while Methodist improves to 2-0. Chowan will travel to Shaw University on February 20th for a 2:00pm match up in their next outing.
