Hawks Split with St. Andrews

MURFREESBORO - The baseball team moved to 5-3 on the year after splitting with St. Andrews 14-2 and 15-2 this afternoon. BJ Byerly pitched a complete game to help propel the Hawks to the first game win while the team tallied 14 hits. Chowan was held to just three hits in the second game.

Byerly pitched seven innings, scattering nine hits, striking out two batters, and giving up two runs. Joey Ryder was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with a homerun and double. David Hughes was 2-3 at the plate with three RBI while Brian Hill tallied two hits and two RBI.

The Hawks were held to just three hits in the night cap while three pitchers combined to give up fifteen runs, twelve of which were earned.

Chowan moves to 5-3 overall while St. Andrews improves to 3-5 on the season. The Hawks will travel to Virginia State on Thursday in their next game.
