MURFREESBORO - Freshman pitcher Chris Nelson struck out 15 Falcon batters in route to a 17-6 victory over Fairmont State in the final game of the three game series. The Hawks pounded out 18 hits while holding FSU to just eight hits in the game. Nelson's 15 strikeouts in a new single game record.

The Hawks held a 4-0 lead over FSU heading into the bottom of the 4th inning when they exploded for eight runs. Senior Joey Ryder and freshman Zack Beasley each had bases loaded doubles with three RBI in that inning.

Nelson continued to work through 8.0 innings, scattering five hits and one run and walking just two batters. Steve Humprey came in to pitch the final inning of the game, giving up three hits and five unearned runs.

Ryder ended the game going 3-5 at the plate with four RBI while Justin Hollingsworth was 2-2 with three runs scored and two RBI. Hollingsworth had a solo homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning. PJ Sadler was 3-5 at the plate with two doubles.

The Hawks will host St. Andrews College on Tuesday in the next game. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
