Box Scores vs. VSU
MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team fell to 0-5 after losing to Virginia State University 64-53 in their home season opener tonight. After battling for baskets for most of the game, Virginia State pulled away over the final minutes of play to take the win. Virginia State improves to 4-1 after the game. 
The score was knotted at 28-28 at halftime and both teams exchanged baskets until the ten minute mark of the second period. Virginia State busted the 38-38 tie on a three point play by Morgan McGill.The Trojans started to pull away with the game after McGill's basket and ran their lead to as many as 17 points in the second period. 
The Hawks hit 40% (20-50) from the field but were out rebounded 47 to 21. Virginia State grabbed 20 offensive boards and converted 14 points off of second chances around the basket. 
Brittany Nicholson had a team-high nien points and dished out two assists. Acquanette Simmons scored eight points in the loss. 
The Hawks will take off for Thanksgiving and return to the court on December 1st when they travel to Barton College for a 6:00pm game.
