Box Score Box Score vs. North Greenville
MURFREESBORO- The Hawks fell to 3-12 on the season as visiting North Greenville came into the Helms Center and scored a 70-53 road win.
Both teams battled early in the first half but as the half grew to a close North Greenville was able to heat up from the outside. The Crusaders shot 63% from the floor and 67% from the 3-point line in the first half. The Crusaders Guard Robin Warner lit up the Hawks with 16 points in the first half. Brandy Smith also netted 10 points in the first half for the Crusaders. With their hot shooting North Greenville took a 39-26 lead into halftime.
The Hawks were able to stay close early, but their poor shooting was what separated them from the Crusaders. The Hawks shot just 35% from the floor and 20% from the 3-point line in the first half.
The second half began much like the first half ended. The Crusaders hot shooting fell of a little bit, but with their already huge lead the Crusaders were able to coast in the second half. The Hawks never got to within 10 points of the Crusaders in the second half and their poor shooting once again hurt them.
The Hawks defensive pressure caused the Crusaders shooting percentage to go down somewhat but North Greenville was able to still shoot 50% from the floor for the game and 56% from the 3-point line for the game. The Hawks on the other hand shot just 30% from the floor and 21% from behind the arc.
North Greenville improved to 5-7 on the year and the Hawks moved to 3-12 on the year. The Hawks were led today by Jashonda Crawford who had 17 points and 4 steals. Keyon Sellers also pitched in 10 points for the Hawks.
North Greenville was led by Robin Warner who had 18 points, 3 assists, 1 block and 6 rebounds. Debbie Wyatt also netted 17 points and had 3 rebounds on the day.
The Hawks wrap up their home stand tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM as old USA South foe North Carolina Wesleyan visits the Helms Center.
