BREVARD, NC - The homestanding Brevard Tornadoes amassed over 400 yards of offense while also taking advantage of three Hawks turnovers en route to a 45-7 win over Chowan.
The Hawks were held scoreless in the game until the fourth quarter when they finally put together a solid play drive. Anthony Hinton caught an 8-yard pass from Marcus Brown to cap off an 80-yard drive. Cory Cline made good on the extra point to give the Hawks seven but the damage was already done.
Brevard scored 28 first half points and added three scores in the second half to take the 45-7 win. Brevard totaled 409 yards of offense, 257 of which came on the ground. Chowan had 117 yards on the ground and 171 yards through the air. For the second time this season, the Hawks had a 100-yard rusher as newcomer Kenny Royster continued his strong showing on the ground. He tallied 100 yards on 18 carries.
Louis Williams caught six passes for 85 yards to lead the receivers. Jomo Brown led the defense with 11 tackles and one interception. Tim Hines tallied 10 tackles while Ronnie Fields had 7 tackles in the loss.
Chowan will host UNC-Pembroke next Saturday at 12:00 pm for the annual Homecoming game. Chowan falls to 1-4 on the year after today's loss while Brevard moves to 1-3 on the year.
