EMORY, VA - The women's volleyball team opened the 2007 season with a win after beating UVA-Wise 3-1 in the Hawks opening match at the Emory and Henry College Invitational.
Chowan won the opening game but it was a battle with a final of 36-34. The Hawks dropped game two 24-30 but bounced back to take games three and four with respective scores of 30-24 and 30-23.
Freshman setter Stacey Davis tallied 25 assists and 17 digs in the match while junior Adrian Cook had 10 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Kristen Stroud added double digit kills with 10 while fellow freshman Nicole Shoup had 18 digs.
The Hawks will play Randolph-Macon College later tonight. Check back later for scores and game story.
