Box Score vs. Southern Virginia

MT. OLIVE - The men's soccer team fell 2-1 at the Mount Olive College/Sleep Inn Collegiate to opening round opponent Southern Virginia University. Tonight's match up was the first of the 2007 campaign for both teams.

Southern Virginia University scored on a penalty kick early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Knights scored again to open the second period and spread their lead to two goals.

Chowan cut the Knight lead to just one goal after freshman Ali Abdi scored with about eight minutes to play into the game. Abdi's goal was not enough to catch the Knights as they went to hold off any Hawks' comebacks. Chowan falls to 0-1 after tonight's 2-1 loss while SVU improves to 1-0.

The Hawks will play Warren Wilson College tomorrow at 5:00pm in second day play at the 3rd Annual Mount Olive College/Sleep Inn Collegiate Tournament.
