Box Score Box Scores vs. Armstrong Atlantic State
SAVANNAH, GA - After taking a 28-20 lead into halftime, the Hawks dropped their second game of the Armstrong Atlantic State Classic to the host-team with a final score of 59-56. Armstrong Atlantic came out shooting 50% from the floor in the second half to help propel them in the second half of play.
The Hawks led by as many as 13 points in the first period, behind a 44% shooting performance, and three made three pointers. Armstrong battled back but the Hawks still maintained an eight point lead heading into the halftime period.
Chowan led by ten points with 10:50 to play before Armstrong mounted their comeback. AASU went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes of play to take a 42-41 lead. The two teams exchanged baskets for the next five minutes before Armstrong Atlantic started to pull away, getting up by six points with just under two minutes to play. Chowan cut the lead to 57-56 when Aaron Scott hit a jumper with :07 to go. The Hawks were forced to foul on Armstrong's next possession, sending William Kane to the line where he put his team up 59-56 with :03 to play. Montino Williams attempted a last ditch three pointer just before the buzzer to tie the game but it fell short.
For Chowan, now 4-7 on the year, Lando Morrison had 16 points and two steals while Scott finished up with 10 points. Chris Kenon tallied nine points and seven assists in the loss.
Chowan will return to the court on January 2nd when they host Catawba College at 7:00pm.
