Box Score Box Scores vs. GSCU
SAVANNAH, GA - The men's basketball team fell in the first game of the Armstrong Atlantic State University Classic with a final score of 72-61 at the hands of Georgia State College and University. Tonight was the first time the Hawks have played since December 15th when they traveled to Holy Family University in Philadelphia.
The Hawks played GSCU tough in the first part of the first period but GSCU got up by as many as 14 points with just under five minutes to play in the first period. Chowan cut the lead to eight when Joe Brice nailed a three pointer with :23 to go. GSCU answered with a lay up at the other end of the court just before halftime to give GSCU a 41-31 lead at the half.
GSCU went on to out score the Hawks 31-30 in the second period to take the game with a final score of 71-61. The Hawks shot 38% from the field in the game while GSCU hit 49% of their shots taken. Aaron Scott led the Hawks, coming off the bench for 12 points. Layth Mansour added 11 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Chowan moves to 4-6 overall while GSCU improves to 6-1. The Hawks will play the host-team tomorrow, Armstrong Atlantic State University, tomorrow afternoon in their second game of the Classic.
