ETTRICK, VA - The women's basketball dropped a road game to Virginia State University with a final score of 64-53. The Lady Trojans picked up their first win of the season in their season opener while the Hawks fell to 1-2 on the year.

Chowan trailed 32-24 at the half way point but couldn't overcome the defense to cut into the deficit. Chowan shot 36% from the field while VSU shot 40% in the game. The Lady Trojans also edged the Hawks in rebounds 32 to 30.

For Chowan, AJ O'Bannion netted 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Demika McMahan joined her in double-figures with 10 points. Senior Keyon Sellers had nine points and six rebounds in the loss.

Chowan will have off until Sunday when they travel to North Carolina Wesleyan for a 3:00pm match up.
