Hawks Roll to Win Against Bobcats

Box Scores vs. Lees-McRae

MURFREESBORO - The men's basketball team rolled to an 83-69 win over visiting Lees-McRae College this evening, giving them their first win of the 2007-08 season. The Hawks spread the scoring out with three players having double figures. The Hawks have continued to stay hot from the floor after shooting 63% (31-49) from the field and 50% (8-16) from beyond the three-point arc.

Chowan took a decisive lead early in the game and never gave it up. They scored 30 points off of Bobcat turnovers and also grabbed 29 boards in the win.

For Chowan junior guard Chris Kenon had 23 points, four assists, and four steals to lead all scorers in the game. Jaleel Nelson played a balanced game with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Freshman forward Layth Mansour chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds in the fourteen-point win.

For Lees-McRae, now 0-2 after tonight's loss, Nick DeShepper scored a team-high 22 points. Modestas Riauka joined him in double-figures with 14 points on the night.

Chowan will hit the road for five games before returning to the Helms Center on December 13th when they host Mount Olive College at 7:30pm.
