Kristen Stroud had 11 kills in tonight's win

Box Scores vs. Virginia State

MURFREESBORO - The volleyball team rolled to a straight games win over visiting Virginia State University this evening, moving them to 18-7 overall on the season. The Hawks won with final game scores of 30-10, 30-9, and 30-23.

Chowan out hit the Trojans 37 to 11 in the match while only committing 14 errors on their attacks from the net. Nicole Shoup, the program's new record holder for digs and aces in a game, served out 14 points in the first match to get the Hawks momemtum flowing in a winning direction.

Antoinette McCollough and Kristen Stroud paced the Hawks from the net with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Stacey Davis had 26 assists while Shoup tallied seven service aces.

Prior to the match, the Hawks announced new single-season records for Shoup who now holds the record for digs in a match (35), aces in a match (20), and aces in a season (107). Davis set the single-match record for assists in a match with 61 while McCollough is the program's single season blocking record holder.

The Hawks will travel to North Carolina Wesleyan on Thursday night in their next match up. They will return to the Helms Center on October 20th for a 10:30am match against Lincoln University (PA).
