Box Scores vs. Barton College

MURFREESBORO - Barton's David Pineiro scored an unassisted goal in the 95th minute to beat Chowan in overtime 2-1. Today's overtime loss drops the Hawks to 2-11 on the year.

Barton out shot the Hawks 22 to 16 in the match while Hawks keeper Josh Cenci tallied seven saves. The Bulldogs struck first in the match after JD Spencer found Heinz Guttenberger who found the back of the net. Guttenberger's goal gave Barton a 1-0 lead at halftime. Chowan threatened to score for much of the second period but finally got on the board in the 81st minute of the match. Yisdro Lopez attempted a shot from the far corner of the keeper box. Barton's keeper tallied a save but could not wrap it up. A waiting Ali Abdi took advantage of the lose ball and kicked it by an outstretched Barton keeper to knot the match at 1-1.

Abdi's score forced the overtime period where the Hawks eventually fell in just four minutes into the overtime period on Pineiro's score.

The Hawks will host back-to-back home matches this Friday and Saturday. Ferrum College will visit Friday at 3:00pm while Bluefield College comes to town for a 4:00pm Saturday match.
