Hawks Fall in Overtime to Palm Beach Atlantic

Tiffany Lee had 15 saves in today's loss to PBA

MURFREESBORO - Palm Beach Atlantic's Brandi Bianco scored goal in the 98th minute to help propel her team to a 2-1 overtime win over Chowan this afternoon. It was a tough loss, especially for six seniors who played in their final home game of 2007. Amanda Cothern, Melissa Rodgers, Stephanie Montague, Tiffany Lee, Kermethia Abernathy, and Casey Driver played in their final home game of the season and were honored just prior to the 4:00pm kick off.

PBA out shot the Hawks 27-11 in the match but senior Tiffany Lee played a solid game in goal for the Hawks, getting 15 saves in 98 minutes of play.

The water logged field slowed the pace of the game and the scoring didn't start until the 43rd minute when Angie Kuhn from Palm Beach Atlantic scored off a penalty kick. The Sailfish kept the Hawks out of the goal until the 85th minute in regulation when Katie Perkins stuck a goal in the net off a rebounded shot by Clara Danzeisen. Perkins' goal tied the match at 1-1 and forced the overtime period. Bianco's goal in the 98th minute sealed the win for PBA in overtime. Bianco was assisted on the game-winning goal by Kuhn, who scored the game's first goal.

Chowan was led by Danzeisen who had four shots while Perkins had two shots and one goal. Danzeisen was credited with the assist off the rebounded shot on the Hawks' lone score.

Chowan falls to 5-9-4 overall while PBA moves to 5-7-1 after today's match.
