Messy Day for Men's Soccer

MURFREESBORO - The weather was not on the anyone's side today in a match which featured lightning and rain delays that caused the Chowan and UNC-Pembroke match to be cut twenty minutes short.

UNC-Pembroke won with a final score of 4-0 over the Hawks, dropping them to 2-17 on the season.  The Braves out shot the Hawks 17-4 in the water logged match with three of their goals coming in the first half.

UNC-Pembroke got on the board first in the match when Miquel Ferrer found a wide open net after Chowan's keeper Dustin Stulen attempted to stop a cross but slipped through his hands. Four minutes later in the 24th minute of the first period,Thomas Morrow made it 2-0 over Chowan when Zach Rowell served a ball into the box. Edmundo Zamorano scored in the 44th minute to take a 3-0 lead over the home standing Hawks.

The Braves went on to score in the 54th minute to take the eventual 4-0 win over Chowan. Dustin Stulen played 70:00 in goal for Chowan, getting six saves and allowing five goals. Wes Bowers played the entire match in goal for the Braves, getting one save.

UNC-Pembroke moved to 6-10 overall while Chowan falls to 2-17 on the season. They will wrap up their regular season on Saturday with Lees-McRae. Match time is set for 1:00pm. There will be a Senior Day recognition ceremony prior to kick off to honor lone senior Leon Waddell.
