Murfreesboro, NC-The Braves fell to 1-6 on the season and 0-2 in the conference after today's loss to Averett. The Braves scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead as freshman Brad Fontaine booted one past Averett's keeper in the twenty-ninth minute in the first period. Averett scored just one minute later as Sam Macri netted Averett's first goal of the game to tie the score at 1-1. A penalty kick by Ake Soderstrom gave the Cougars the lead in the thirty-second minute of the first period. Soderstrom would hook up with Sam Macri to take the lead to 3-1 in the forty-third minute. Bryan Tingle hit freshman Gabe Cintron for the goal. The Cougars took a 3-2 lead into the half. The Cougars would score one more time in the eighty-fourth minute as Soderstrom onced again hooked up with Sam Macri for the goal. Macri had three goals on the day while Soderstrom had 1 goal and 2 assists for the Cougars.
