About CU Softball Field
The softball team at Chowan University has played an integral part in the upgraded facilities that they practice and play on. With support from special donors as well as the athletic department over the years has allowed for upgrades to the batting cages, playing surfaces, fencing, and construction of a press box/concessions area. The dugouts were recently upgraded with new roofing and custom gear storage for each athlete. The infield has been upgraded with a sport specific clay and sand, while the outfield is a mix of both bermuda and seasonal grass. Just outside the playing perimeter sits a batting cage, hitting stations, and four pitching and catching stations. Updates are made continually to the softball facility and the softball staff works to ensure the playing and practice areas are maintained year round. The softball team recently purchased a John Deere Gator to assist in the maintenance of the playing surface.
