WASHINGTON, DC -- The Chowan University men's and women's tennis teams closed out their fall seasons with two losses on the road, to the University of the District of Columbia and St. Mary's College of Maryland.  Chowan batted UDC on Saturday, October 15^th, and St. Mary's on Sunday, October 16^th.
 
Against UDC, the Hawks men lost 9-0 and the women fell 8-1.  The lone victor for Chowan, Inesa Asatryan, avenged a defeat from last season when she lost to UDC's top player, Jessica Nunez.  Asatryan was able to take the first set in a tiebreak and then cruise to a 6-3 win in the final set. 
 
In St. Mary's City, Maryland on Sunday, Asatryan won singles and doubles with freshman Heaven Rushing to score the Hawks' only two wins on the day.  The St. Mary's women won 7-2.  On the men's side, Chowan Freshman Sasha Kirsanov was able to pull out the Hawks' only victory (6-4, 6-2) in an 8-1 defeat. 
 
Chowan's men and women both finish their fall campaigns with 0-3 records.  Chowan's next scheduled match will be at Barton College on February 4^th, 2012.
