MURFREESBORO , NC - The Chowan University softball team placed four of it's team members on this year's NCCAA All South Region Softball Team. The Hawks wrapped up the season at 31-24 overall and claimed their first-ever CIAA Tournament Championship in April. They also garnered the program's first-ever NCAA DII post season appearance. Fahren Munro and Mindy Byrd garnered All NCCAA South Region First Team honors while Ashley Huffman and Allie Kolezynski were named tp the NCCAA All South Region Second Team at their respective positions. 

Munro was also named to the NCCAA All American Second Team after hitting .402 and stealing 35 bases this season. She started in 45 games for Chowan at shortstop. Byrd hit .384 with 11 doubles and 46 RBI and was also an All CIAA performer  as an outfielder. 

Huffman hit .346 with a team-high 56 RBI this year and Kolezynski batted .375 with 31 stolen bases. She was named to the All CIAA team as a designated player and earned a spot on the prestigous CIAA Commissioner's All Academic Team, one of only 20 CIAA student-athletes to receive the honor.
