ELIZABETHTOWN, NC - Chowan's golf team finished up in 16th place out of 17 competing teams after today's first round of the Carolina Sands Golf Invitational hosted by UNC-Pembroke. Chowan's Corey Garvey turned in a team-low 75 to lead his team after the first round. Coker College sits in first place after shooting a 281 on the day. Play will continue tomorrow at the Carolina Sands-White Lake Golf Course. 

Garvey sits in a tie for 30th place out of 90 total participants. Cliff Forbes turned in a 76 while Calvin Wyrick shot an 88. Dillon Lowe came in with a 91 and John Riddick shot a 96.
