PALM BEACH, FL - The softball team participated in a community service event at the NCCAA Nationals to officially open the NCCAA National Softball Tournament on Wednesday evening. The Hawks, along with five other participating teams, put on a mini-clinic for local youth softball leagues. Chowan worked with the youngest age group, the 8-Under team, shown to the left, on fun drills and activities that promoted fundamentals of the game.
After the clinic the teams and community were treated to a catered meal all in preparation for the tournament opening play day, scheduled to start today.
The Hawks, who garnered the #3 seed in the tournament, will face off against #6 Indiana Wesleyan University at 4:00pm. If they win they will play #2 Palm Beach Atlantic at 6:00pm. If they fall they will play tomorrow at 2:00pm in the loser bracket.
