MURFREESBORO – The Chowan University Athletic Department is proud to host the 9th Annual Girls and Women in Sport Day on Saturday, April 19th, 2008. The event will be hosted on the campus of Chowan University at the Helms Center.

The four-hour event will feature free mini-clinics in basketball, cheerleading, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. All participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch. This fun-filled day is free of charge for all participants.

The purpose of the event is to introduce these sports to young girls in hopes of future participation in recreational and school sports organizations. The participants will be exposed to college level coaches and student-athletes, who will iterate the important life lessons and character development that participation in sports can teach.

Door prizes will also be given out during the lunch session. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear sneakers. All equipment will be provided by the athletic department.

Registration will start at 8:30am and last until 9:00am. The mini-clinics will begin at 9:15am and last until 12:30pm. Immediately following the clinics, lunch will be served. All participants will need to be picked up by 1:15pm.
