CU Men’s Soccer Wraps Up Stellar 10-4-4 Season at Bryan Park Against Mountain Lions

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Chowan University men's soccer team faced Young Harris College in the Conference Carolinas Semifinals on Thursday evening, coming up just one goal short in a competitive matchup. After the Mountain Lions struck first, the Hawks responded with two goals in the opening half to take a 2-1 advantage into the break. Young Harris regained momentum late in the second half, converting twice to move ahead 3-2. Chowan pushed for a late equalizer, taking multiple chances to score, but could not convert before the clock ran out.

With the result, Chowan concludes its season with a 10-4-4 overall record.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

The Hawks created 11 total shots, including six on goal, with Bradley Binns and Clay Verdin each recording two attempts and one on target. Verdin delivered Chowan's second goal in the 45th minute, finishing a well-placed assist from Cameron Letterlough. Letterlough, Jamie Moore, Bradley Williams, and Jeevan Purewal each recorded a shot on goal, with Purewal converting in the 34th minute for the Hawks opening score after receiving a pass from Verdin at the center of the box. Henry-Jorge Garcia, Matty Doyle, and Luke Wilson each added a shot to round out the offensive effort.

In goal, Lucas Kibrya  collected four saves and anchored the Hawks defensively through the full 90 minutes of play.
