AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Chowan Football program continues to add more firsts to their impressive 2022 season as for the first time in program history a Chowan football player has been named Academic All-American. The College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday their Academic All-American selections.
Raydarius Freeman, defensive lineman from Belhaven, N.C., earned First Team Academic All-American honors after posting a 3.85 GPA in his undergraduate studies in History. Freeman was named First Team All-CIAA this season after leading the CIAA in TFLs (17.5) while adding 52.0 tackles and 5.0 sacks.
Freeman becomes the fourth Chowan athlete to be named Academic All-American. The full list of CSC Academic All-Americans can be found here.
