CHARLESTON, WV- The Chowan University volleyball team defeated Virginia Union University in three straight sets this afternoon at the University of Charleston (WV) tournament. 

The Hawks won the match in convincing fashion this afternoon with scores of 25-8, 25-18, and 25-20.  Callie Armistead set the Hawks up for the win after tallying 25 assists in the contest.  

Senior All-CIAA Pre-Season selection Karina Monroe pulled in 17 kills against the Lady Panthers and collected two blocks as well.  Nikira Fults added eight kills in the contest to help secure the win.  Freshman Cindy Ehrich had four service aces in the win along with 10 digs.  

The Hawks move to 2-2 on the short season.  The VUU Lady Panthers have yet to receive their first win and fall to 0-7.  Chowan will take on Mars Hill College this afternoon for their final game at the University of Charleston (WV) tournament.
