MURFREESBORO - Chowan University's Head Football Coach,
Tim Place, announced today the signing of three prospects for the fall season along with three spring semester team additions. After today's official signing day the Hawks have three National Letter of Intent signees inked to start school and practice in August of this year. The six new team additions represent positions on both sides of the ball and four different states.
James Gadson,
Denzel Hooks, and Camron Stover each signed NLI's today. Gadson is a 6'4'', 280lb defensive lineman from Columbia, South Carolina. He will graduate in June from Dreher High School. Hooks comes from the football rich city of Charlotte and Olympic High School. He signed on as a defensive back. Stover is a 6'3'', 180lb quarterback from Flint, Michigan. He was a standout player for Carman-Ainsworth High School in Flint.
Joining the team in January were
Steven Carroll, Cory Martin, and Michael Varner. Carroll is a 6'3'', 195 quarterback from San Diego, California. He graduated from Southwestern Junior College and Oceanside High School before that. Martin hails from Siler City, North Carolina and transferred from Mars Hill College. The 6'2'',270lb Martin will help sure up the offensive line next season. Varner is a 6'0'', 210lb defensive back from Ladson, South Carolina and graduate of Summerville High School.
Place and his staff continue to work on signing players throughout the signing period. It is anticipated that program will announce additional signees at a later date.
