Box Score PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - Indiana Wesleyan scored on a double down the left field line in the bottom of the 7th inning to beat the Hawks 1-0 in the opening game of the NCCAA Softball Nationals. In what turned out to be a pitcher's duel, freshman Allie Kolezynski (at left) pitched like a veteran, giving up four hits and striking out five batters. But after walking the lead off batter in the bottom of the 7th it set up Indiana Wesleyan for a score and eventual win.
The Hawks were held to two hits in the game, with Brooke Owen getting a triple in the top of the 3rd inning. Melissa Woodrum singled in the fourth inning but the Hawks were unable to put hits back to back to score any runs.
Kolezynski gets the loss after tossing the complete game. She struck out five and scattered four hits in the game.
The Hawks will play tomorrow at 2:00pm in the loser bracket. They will play the loser of the #4 Spring Arbor and #1 Central Baptist College game being played at 6:00pm.
