WASHINGTON, D.C.- The men's tennis team picked up their fourth win on the season after defeating the University of District of Columbia by the final match score of 8-1. The win improves the Hawks to 4-8 on the season and second straight victory.
Chowan took a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles play. Darick Gilman anchored the #1 seed for the Hawks followed by Raitis Abolins as the #2 seed. Gilman batteld but fell short to Arda Kaytan by the final score of 6-4, 5-7 (10-3). Abolins defeated Adrian Wyllie, 6-1, 6-4. Jonathan Walker, Mike Fencil, and Adam Moneypenny represented the #3, #4, and #5 seeds,respectively. Walker, Fencil, and Moneypenny defeated their opponents by the same identical scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Hawks will travel to Petersburg, VA to play Virginia State University on April 8th. Match set for 4:00pm. The next day, the team will host Shaw University as the last match of the season. Match begins 2:00pm.
