Softball Drops Two at USC-Aiken

AIKEN, SC - The softball team dropped a doubleheader at USC-Aiken on Saturday afternoon, falling with final scores of 10-2 and 8-0. The Hawks move to 25-19 on the year after the losses. The Hawks have four games remaining on their regular schedule after traveling to Aiken on Saturday.

The Hawks were held to 11 hits over the games, with six of those hits coming in the first game. The Pacers did most of their damage in the 10-2 game in the second inning where they exploded for seven runs. The Hawks were unable to recover from the inning and eventually suffered their 18th loss of the season. Brooke Owen was 2-3 at the plate with a runscored while Tricia Gorman finished up 1-3 with an RBI. Both Alex Allen and Kaytee McLaughlin were 1-2 for Chowan. Shellie Wimpey suffered the loss on the mound, giving up ten runs and striking out three batters.

Chowan dropped the nightcap 8-0, dropping them to 25-19 on the season. The Hawks were held to five hits with no player getting multiple hits. Allie Kolezynski picked up the loss on the mound after giving up 11hits and eight runs.

The Hawks will host North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday in their final home game of the season. They will travel to the NCCAA South Region Tournament in Emmanuel, Georgia April 18-19th. More information on the NCCAA South Region Tournament will be posted on Monday, as it is available.
