HAMPTON, VA - Three Chowan football players have been tabbed CIAA Players of the Week after turning in stellar performances in a loss to Shaw University on Saturday night. Robert Holland, CJ Westler, and Tony Goodman have all been named part of week seven's CIAA Players of the Week. 

Robert Holland was named CIAA Wide Receiver of the Week after catching 18 passes for 221 yards against Shaw. Holland broke two single-game receiving records with those numbers, receptions in a game and reception yards in a game. Holland also broke the single season receptions record with this weekend's outing (68). Holland leads the league in receiving with 897 total yards, averaging 112.1 yards per game. This is Holland's second time being named CIAA Wide Receiver of the Week. He also earned CIAA Rookie of the Week honors previously this season. 

CJ Westler also had a record setting night against Shaw and earned the CIAA Offensive Back of the Week. He posted 361 yards passing on 32 of 58 completions. He also tossed two touchdowns in the game. Westler went over the 2,300 yard mark for the season, busting a single-season yardage record he set in 2008. Westler owns just about every passing record in the books in only two years with the program. This is the second time Westler has been named CIAA Offensive Back of the Week. 

Tony Goodman earned CIAA Rookie of the Week after helping the Hawks in a variety of ways on the field. As a defender, Goodman racked up six tackles, four solo and four assisted tackles. He also forced a fumble in the game. Goodman served as a punt return and kick return man in the game, getting 41 punt return yards and 71 kick off return yards. 

The Hawks (1-7, 1-4) wrap up the season with two more home games left  in their three-game home stand. They will host Johnson C. Smith on Saturday for Homecoming. That kick off is slated for 6:00pm.
