Hawks Stay Alive with Win over Geneva

STRUTHERS, OH - Chowan gutted out a 5-4, ten inning win over #7 Geneva College to advance to the semi-finals of the 2008 NCCAA World Series. The Hawks got down by as many as three runs early in the game but battled back for the win.

NCCAA South Region Freshman of the Year Billy Walling doubled to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning. Joey Ryder sacrifice bunted Walling over to third base. Senior Justin Hollingsworth singled to left field to score Walling from third base and take the thrilling 5-4 win. Hollingsworth has come up big twice in the tournament with both game-winning hits in the team's two victories.

With four teams left in the tournament, the team has wrapped up at least fourth place out of ten teams. Because of NAIA tournament rules the Hawks will play #1 Malone College at 7:00pm on Friday night.
