Kenneth Haswell, a native and current resident of Knightdale, was a versatile two-sport star at Chowan from 1952 through 1954. His basketball abilities earned him Second Team All-Conference honors for two seasons and he was tabbed as a member of the All-Tournament Team during the 1952-53 season. To his teammates, he was affectionately known as “Goose.”
On the baseball diamond, Haswell was selected to the All-State Junior College Team in 1954 and honored as the Most Outstanding Athlete at Chowan for the 1953-54 season.
