Chris Stambaugh embarks on his second season as the Director of Tennis at Chowan University. Stambaugh comes to Chowan with 12 years of NCAA DII tennis head coaching experience.
Stambaugh comes to Chowan from Shepherd University (WV) where he was the Head Men's & Women's Tennis coach for 10 successful seasons. He was named WVIAC Coach of the Year four of his 10 seasons at Shepherd and has four WVIAC Championships to call his own as a coach. He guided the 2003 Men's and Women's teams to a WVIAC while the men's team also claimed the title in 2002 and 2005.
Stambaugh was a stand out player for Shepherd during his undergrad days and claimed WVIAC Men's Tennis Championship (individual) in 1988.
Along with his coaching duties at Shepherd University, he served as the Head Tennis Instructor at the Martinsburg Health & Fitness Club for 13 years. Stambaugh coached at Tiffin University for one season prior to accepting the position at Chowan.
Stambaugh earned his B.A. in Communications from Shepherd and holds a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Shepherd.
