The Hawks put up 311 yards of offense behind the arm of rookie quarterback Cameron Stover who passed for 245 in his first collegiate start. The Ctiadel combined for 374 yards of offense with 243 yards coming on the ground. This was the season opener for the Bulldogs who will travel to play Arizona next weekend. The Bears had two running backs record 100-plus yards in the game while the team rushed for a combined 513 yards. The Hawks were held to 164 yards of total offense in the game, with 95 yards coming in the air and 69 yards on the ground. The local community had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the 2010 CU fall sports teams, coaches, and athletic department staff. The CU fall sports teams put together drills and games in their respective sports for the community members while others participated in the giveaways, face painting, and fellowship. The event is set for Thursday, August 19th at 6:00pm on the upper athletic practice fields on the campus of Chowan University.  ESPN's Talkin' Sports' Gattis Hodges will be on hand for a live remote show. He will interview coaches and players and preview the upcoming sports seasons at Chowan. All four of CU's fall sports teams will offer free mini-clinics and games to all participants. After two days of processing on campus, Place finally had a chance to see his young men in action today with early morning fitness testing. The Newport News, Virginia native led the CIAA in total receiving yards (1,078 yards) and receiving yards per game (107.8) a year ago in just his first year of collegiate play. Holland was an All-CIAA performer at his position and a member of the CIAA All-Rookie Team. This year&rsquo;s team defines the total NCAA DII student-athlete experience with each member excelling on their respective playing fields and courts as well as in their classrooms and communities.
