Catawba and Mount Olive, who both won their respective conference tournaments and qualified for the NCAA Division II Playoffs, led the way with three players each.  In all, seven institutions were represented on the all-state squad with four student-athletes repeating from last year. The first baseman joins 15 other players from the Atlantic Region on the this year's team. Bagbey was named this year's CIAA Baseball Player of the Year in April after turning in a solid sophomore season. After losing to North Greenville to open the tournament on Wednesday, the Hawks moved to the loser's bracket to face Truett-McConnell College in today's first game. The Hawks won 5-3 over the Bears to advance to play Emmanuel College in today's late game. The Hawks will be the #3 seed in the five-team, double elimination tournament. Southeastern University (FL) garnered the top seed in the tournament while North Greenville picked up the #2 seed. Truett-McConnell and Emmanuel College (GA) round out the field with the fourth and fifth seeds respectively. The tournament is set to open on Wednesday, May 12th.
