Blake Tabbed as Assistant Director of Compliance

MURFREESBORO - Chowan University and the athletic department announce the hiring of Camelia Blake as the Assistant Director for NCAA Compliance. Blake comes to Chowan after recently graduating from Virginia State University.

"I am happy to have Camelia here on our staff at Chowan. She brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm as well as capability to a tough position in compliance," stated Associate Athletic Director for NCAA Complaince, Patrick Mashuda. "She had some valuable experiences in the Virginia State athletic department under well-known VSU Director of Athletics, Peggy Davis. Those experiences will help her get adjusted to working full-time in collegiate athletics."

Camelia is a native of Rice, Virginia and was a standout four-year student-athlete for Virginia State University. She participated in both Cross Country and Track & Field during her stay with the Trojans. In 2008 she earned a spot in the NCAA Track & Field Championships in the 60 meter indoor hurdles event after gaining the CIAA Championship in that same event that year. She was also a member of the All CIAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Teams. She also helped lead the VSU Cross Country team to a 2008 conference co-championship.

Camelia had the opportunity to work alongside of VSU's Director of Athletics, Mrs. Peggy Davis. Under Davis' tutelage Camelia was able to garner valuable experience in athletics in the areas of game management, marketing, and ticket management.

Along with her athletic experience at Virginia State University, Camelia was also a member of the VSU Gospel Chorale.
