GREENSBORO - The Chowan University men's soccer program is set to make their season debut this weekend in Greensboro at the Guilford College Invitational. The Hawks will play two matches over two days, opening with host team Guilford College on Saturday, September 4th. Match time is set for 2:00pm Saturday. The Hawks will turn around on Sunday to play Averett University at 12:00pm. After a 1-16 season a year ago, the Hawks are looking to start 2010 with a win. MURFREESBORO - All four of Chowan University's fall sports teams are now underway after the volleyball and men's and women's soccer teams checked in this morning. Football has been practicing for a week in preparation for their 2010 season opener at Lenoir-Rhyne on August 28th while the volleyball and soccer squads will get underway with practices this afternoon. The volleyball team boasts a 14 player roster to begin the season with six returning players, including last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, Karina Monroe. Women's Soccer Head Coach, Jodi Clugston, brought in the largest recruiting class in her three year tenure while Matt Phelps and the men's soccer team boasts a 20-man roster, heavy on the returning player side.
