Hawkins Field is home to the baseball team at Chowan University. Named after Coach Jerry Hawkins, who coached the baseball team at Chowan for more than 30 years, the field has seen some much needed upgrades within the past five seasons. Those upgrades include a new infield playing surface (sod and clay),updated batting cages, and relocated bullpens. This past season, with the help of some special donors, a new two story press box/concessions area was added just behind the home plate back stop. Plans for new surrounding fence are in the works and should be unveiled in the 2008 season.
