Women's Soccer Releases '08 Opponents
MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University Women's Soccer program announced the 2008 playing schedule today. The Hawks will be led onto the field by first year coach Jodi Clugston, who had time to help prepare the squad for spring training after being hired in January. The Hawks will play ten road matches and will host opponents eight times at the Hawks Soccer Complex.
Just like the men's program, the women will open the season on the road at Warren Wilson College on August 30th. They will continue west to Carson-Newman College on August 31st before reutrning home to host Mount Olive College on September 3rd at 2:00pm.
This year's schedule features a three-game home stand with tough opponents in Catawba College on September 17th, Concord College on September 19th, and USC-Aiken on September 20th. They will wrap up the 2008 regular season on the road at Coker College and UNC-Pembroke.
The Hawks finished the 2007 season at 5-9-4 and are returning top statistical leader Clara Danzeisen who had 12 points on five season goals and two season assists. The Hawks suffered some key player injuries a year ago with both Erin Jackson (pictured above) and Ashley Bradford going down early in the season. After several months of rehab and training, both are ready to help Clugston and the Hawks take the field in 2008.
