Hamlett Signs Baseball Contract with Frontier League
Former Hawk Pitching for Florence Freedom

FLORENCE, KY - Former Chowan pitcher Brandon Hamlett signed a professional baseball contract early last week with the Florence Freedom. The Freedom play in the Independent Frontier League.

Hamlett, who finished playing in May of this past year, helped the Hawks to a NCCAA South Region Championship and 4th Place National Finish. He excelled late in the season with a 9-3 overall record to go with five saves. The right-handed hurler struck out 48 and walked 21 in 59.1 innings pitched this season. He left the baseball program as the winningest pitcher in program history.

Since signing last Monday, Hamlett has pitched six innings for Florence, allowing four hits, one run, while striking out two batters.

Head Baseball Coach Aaron Carroll is proud of Hamlett's accomplishments thus far. "I am glad that someone gave him an opportunity. I know that Brandon will make the best of this chance."
