Athletic Statement and Goals
ATHLETIC STATEMENT
The intercollegiate athletics program at Chowan University will be administered in accordance with this statement of philosophy, which is consistent with the purpose, and goals of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Christian College Athletic Association.
“The intercollegiate athletics program contributes to the total education of each individual student by providing a controlled teaching/learning experience outside the classroom. It shall provide an environment of competitive sportsmanship that assists in the development of responsible citizens. It also fosters the personal qualities of high ethical values, a competitive spirit, winning and losing as part of a team and a desire to excel. A key component of this environment is the constant reinforcement of the concept of building self-discipline and self-esteem in each student-athlete. At no time will the Christian mission of the institution be compromised.”
