MERRY HILL, NC – Fayetteville State University finished up with 303 team strokes to lead after day one play at the 2010 CIAA Golf Round up this afternoon at Scotch Hall Preserve Golf Club. All four top scoring players for the Broncos shot sub-80 rounds to get the top team score through first day play. Virginia State came in 18 strokes behind the Broncos at 324 for a second place day one finish and Chowan University sits in third place in the nine-team tournament with 330.

Softball Wins One, Drops One with Glenville State

MURFREESBORO - The softball team split twinbill play with Glenville State University this afternoon, dropping them to 5-15 on the year. Chowan won the opening game 2-1 but were shut out in the nightcap 5-0. Two freshman stepped up to drive in the winning runs for Chowan in the 2-1 first game victory while freshman Christie Wright picked up her second win of the season on the mound.

Women's Tennis Splits with Lincoln and Bowie State

OXFORD, PA - The Chowan women's tennis team knocked off CIAA foe Lincoln University but fell short against Bowie State in play over the weekend. Sophomore Jena'y Nelson led the way for the Hawks by taking a doubles victory against Lincoln and being the only singles winner for Chowan at Bowie. Chowan's women go to 3-5 on the season. For Lincoln and Bowie, this was their first contest of the season.
